New Job, New Home

I’m slowly recovering from the trip. I don’t think I wanna travel four days in a row again. My butt was hurting so much in the end, that even on a short city bus ride yesterday I didn’t want to sit. In the end was picked up from the bus station on Monday noon. My friend’s boyfriend’s mother picked me up as she was still on the road coming home from her parent’s town. This boyfriend and his family lived close to the sea. So my arrival included ocean view, humming birds, lying in a hang mat, walking on the beach and a good and typical Brazilian lunch with rice beans and manioc flower.

Later the day my friend Andréa picked me up. We did some basic shopping for my new home, watched Brazilian soaps and at ten I finally let myself go to bed and fell into a narcotic sleep. It was the first time in four days that I really could sleep. Not in a chair, but finally in a bed.

My new home I actually a nice place and the rent is quite cheap, especially as I’m dividing it with two others who are not here at the moment. One probably won’t even come back and the other, a German guy, will arrive on Monday and work in the same place like I do. The flipside of the coin, with this apartment might be that I feel like living in a sauna. It’s at least 40 degrees in here and no wind passes, plus Mosquitoes, a lot of them, which are really happy about the fact of my arrival.

Today I met for the first time the people who are coordinating the organization I’ll be accompanying. I was told and my position will be. So as I understood it by now, I will be just visiting different groups, that are already collectives or are about to become and I will talk to them. Tomorrow I’ll visit the first group. It will be a little adventure to get because I will just use public transport and it’s a quite distant neighborhood. But João Pessoa is a calm town with not much violence, not even a lot of inhabitants, round about 800 000. But it’s the capital of the state Paraiba.

My other achievement of the day was attending a Portuguese class. I will try to use the chance of improving my grammar.
